Description

Chain Bridge is a former footbridge that connected Donington Park with the kitchen gardens. It was built in the mid to late 19th century. At each end of the bridge, there are battered retaining piers made of dressed stone. Chains are hung from wooden posts that are positioned between the piers. Four heavy chains once supported a wooden footway, which is now missing. The balustrades consist of lighter chains arranged in a criss-cross pattern.
