Description

This is a milepost located 100 metres east of Thickwood Lodge in Holmesfield, dating from the mid-19th century. It has a triangular section made of cast iron, featuring a dished upper surface that ends in a curved head with a cusped margin. The northwest face is inscribed with the distances to Baslow (5 miles) and Bakewell (9 miles), while the southwest face indicates the distance to Sheffield (7 miles).
