Description
The Peacock Inn is a public house located in Holmesfield, dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from regularly coursed gritstone with ashlar dressings, featuring ashlar gable stacks and a stone slate roof. It consists of two ranges: the eastern range is taller and has two storeys with three bays, while the western range has four bays and two storeys, including an advanced gabled wing that is off-centre to the west.
The taller range features stacked 2-light casements with plain flush surrounds and pointed arched heads, all of which have glazing bars. There is a 20th-century single storey extension at the eastern end that includes a doorway. The lower four bay range has flush framed windows beneath plain lintels, with the ground floor windows having flat pointed arched heads. All openings in the building also have glazing bars. The advanced wing includes a blocked circular opening at the apex of the gable.
