Description

ASHOVER SK36SE OAKSTEDGE LANE, Milltown 1264-0/8/83 (West side) Barn south of Milltown Farmhouse GV II F Farm building. Probably early C18. Sandstone rubble with corrugated metal roof replacing slate and with coped gables. Rectangular plan, with single-storey gabled wing projecting from east end of north wall. The north wall has a sliding door to an inserted doorway with plain reveals. To the right is a blocked doorway. To the left, next to the projecting wing, is a doorway with quoined surround with a window with plain reveals to its right. The west gable wall has a central blocked doorway with inserted windows to left and right, and the south wall has a doorway opposite the quoined doorway in the north wall. INTERIOR: the west part of the building has cattle stalls with a hayloft over. The hardwood roof timbers remain, with two tie-beam trusses (one with queen struts), a single row of windbraced purlins to each side, and rafters.
