Description
ASHOVER SK36SE OAKSTEDGE LANE, Milltown 1264-0/8/82 (West side) Milltown Farmhouse and attached outbuilding GV II Farmhouse and attached outbuilding. Dated 1670, with C18 and C19 additions and alterations. Regularly coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, quoins, coped gables, ridge and gable chimney stacks. Concrete tiled roof. South elevation has housepart of 2 storeys and 3 bays, with off-centre doorway with massive quoined surround and lintel with drip moulding above. Plain planked door. Flanking the doorway are late C19 window openings to ground and first floors, with flush stone surrounds, and all with single glazing-bar sashes except for the upper-floor window which has a 2-light casement frame. East gable with stacked C17 openings, that to the ground floor now with a C20 window frame, and above an altered C17 three-light window, now with a C20 single-light casement below a drip mould. Blind single-light opening to gable apex with datestone - 'I F A 1670 [?]' - also beneath a drip mould. Adjoining to the west is a lower 2-storey outbuilding with concrete tiled roof. At the left it has a ground-floor window, with a pitching hole above. A central 1st floor pitching doorway has a C20 external door, and at the right there is a ground-floor window with quoined surround and a 1st floor window of 2 lights with a flat-faced mullion.
