Description
The property comprises a farmhouse and attached outbuilding, dating back to the 17th century with 18th and 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick with brick dressings, while the attached outbuilding features stone dressings and quoins. The farmhouse has a plain tile roof with brick gable and ridge stacks, plus a sawtooth eaves cornice. It is two bays wide and of two storeys plus attics. Attached to the west is a narrow, two-bay, two-storey addition dating to the 19th century, which in turn connects to a 17th-century outbuilding. The north side of the outbuilding also has a 19th-century addition.
The east-facing facade of the farmhouse features a moulded doorcase with a 19th-century glazed-panelled door, flanked by 3-light, 20th-century casement windows set beneath segment heads. Above are two similar windows, and above those again are two 20th-century half-dormers with pointed 2-light casements. The west-facing addition has a segment-headed doorcase with a plank door, and a 2-light, segment-headed 20th-century casement window to its right. Above are two similar windows. Further west is the 17th-century building, featuring a brick plinth with chamfered stone copings, a 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, a moulded string course below, and a later 3-light window above. The west facade has a central doorcase with a high stone lintel and a raised central square. To the south is a 19th-century segment-headed metal casement and to the north, an inserted 19th-century segment-headed arch, now with 20th-century doors. Beyond this to the north is a recessed 19th-century addition with a plain doorcase, a large window below, and a 2-light, segment-headed casement above. At the rear of the farmhouse is a staircase turret with a winder staircase. Inside, the central rooms contain large inglenook fireplaces.
