Description
Morton Road Farmhouse and attached outbuildings are a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 20th century. The structure is built from rubble sandstone and coursed squared sandstone, featuring sandstone dressings. It has a slate roof with a brick gable end stack and a ridge stack. The gables are stone-coped with moulded kneelers and a ball finial. The building is two to three storeys high, with a two-storey outshut.
The south elevation has six irregular bays, with angle quoins and former angle quoins aligned with the ridge stack. From left to right, there is a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a dripmould, a window with a recessed and chamfered surround and dripmould, a 19th-century window with a flush stone surround, and a doorway with a chamfered stone surround leading to a 20th-century glazed door. There is also a 19th-century window with a square section stone surround and a doorway to the outbuilding with a stone surround featuring slight moulding.
On the first floor, from left to right, there is a window with recessed and chamfered jambs and lintel with a hoodmould, a 20th-century window with a lintel, and a 3-light recessed and chamfered window with a hoodmould. The north elevation of the outbuilding has a blocked doorway with a chamfered surround and hoodmould, as well as a 2-light recessed and chamfered window with a hoodmould. The west elevation features a partly blocked 2-light window with a flush stone surround and mullion.
