Description
Morton Miners Welfare is a house built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and features slate roofs with stone coped gables and plain kneelers. The gables to the north have plain kneelers above re-used inverted moulded kneelers, and there are three stone gable end stacks. The building is L-shaped, two storeys high with attics, and has single storey 20th-century additions to the west.
The north elevation consists of four bays with flush angle quoins. There is a doorway on the left with a stone lintel and jambs, leading to a 19th-century panelled door. To the right of the doorway is a glazing bar sash window with a stone surround, followed by a smaller glazing bar sash set within the moulded stone surround of a former doorway, of which only the upper half remains, complete with its drip mould. Further to the right is another glazing bar sash with a stone surround. Above, there are four similar windows that alternate between narrow and wide from left to right. The west elevation features a tall 18th-century staircase window with one transom and two glazing bar sashes.
