Description

This is a cottage with attached outbuildings located on the southwest side of the lane, northwest of Pratt Hall. It dates from the 17th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The structure is built from coursed rubble Coal Measures Sandstone, partially roughcast, featuring plain gables and a roof covered with stone slate and concrete tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the cottage forming a crosswing at the southeast end of the outbuilding and occupying its end bay.

The southeast elevation showcases a two-storey gable on the southwest side, accompanied by a single-storey bay. There is a 20th-century planked door at the junction of the two ranges, along with a four-paned fixed light set in a larger opening that has a channelled sill. To the southwest of the doorway, there is a small-paned window, followed by another 20th-century window and a second planked door. A tall six-pane casement window is present on the first floor. The outbuilding range features two windows, one with a hopper frame and the other with a cast-iron frame, both located below plain lintels. There is also an off-centre doorway with a plain planked door and a low single-storey addition to the northwest.

Inside, the outbuilding part contains two cruck trusses, both with collars and spur ties, one of which has purlin bearers on the backs of the cruck blades and was formerly windbraced. The cottage part has a low cruck truss with a collar.
