Description
Highashes Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located on Grange Lane in the parish of Barlow. It is constructed from squared coal measures sandstone with flush quoins, and features a stone slated roof, coped gables with moulded kneelers, and gable and end ridge brick stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys and originally three bays wide, featuring two doorways, each with a massive lintel and a heavily quoined surround. Modern half-glazed doors are now in situ. Above the doorways, and at either end of the facade, are stacks of three-light flush mullioned windows, the mullions being slightly recessed and narrower than the surrounds. The windows have a mix of 18th-century diamond leaded lights and 19th-century glazing bar casements.
