BRAMPTON PRATTHALL Outbuilding to north-west of Pratt Hall and attached outbuildings

GV II

Farm outbuilding. Early C18. Coursed rubble Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings, quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, and C20 corrugated sheet roof. South-east elevation of 2 storeys and a single bay, with central doorways to ground and first floors, and a second ground-floor opening to the side of the central door, now blocked to form a louvred window. Massive lintel and substantial quoined surround to first floor doorway served by a two-flight stone staircase with a half-landing which incorporates a dog kennel. Stone hood above doorway lintel forms a shelf beneath an apex two-light flush-mullioned window, now with 6-pane casements, but perhaps formerly with entry holes for doves, the 'hood' in fact forming a perch. North-west gable with blocked taking-in door at first-floor level.
