Description

Birley Grange Cottage Farm is a late 18th-century house, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof with ashlar gable chimneys. The main part of the house is two storeys high and two bays wide, featuring casement windows with two lights separated by flat-faced mullions. A stone surround frames the doorway located between the bays. A one-bay projection extends forward on the right side, with altered openings. The ground floor of the projection has a window set within a door surround, and the bay above has a two-light window. External stone steps lead to a first-floor doorway with plain reveals on the right, and further to the right is a single-storey one-bay addition.
