Description

BRAMPTON SK37SW Hollins House, attached boundary 1264-0/2/88 wall to south, and entrance 15/07/80 gatepiers GV II House. Early C19 with C20 alterations and additions. Coursed Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings, gable brick chimneys, and a stone slated roof. South elevation of 2 storeys and 3 bays, with central doorway having a timber doorcase and shallow timber bracketed canopy. C20 glazed door, with rectangular overlight above, and curved glazing bars. Flanking the doorway are stacked 4 x 4 pane glazing bar sashes in flush stone frames. The window above the doorway is 4 x 3 panes within a stone frame. The rear range has been remodelled and raised. Attached boundary wall of coursed sandstone with an ashlar flat coping links the house with the entrance gatepiers. 15m to the south of the house the wall diminishes in height from 2.5m to 1.5m by means of curved drops, coped with curved flat copings. There is a quoined garden doorway in the central portion of the wall. The gatepiers are square in plan, of stone, with shallow pyramidal caps.
