Description

Hollins House is an early 19th-century house that has undergone some alterations and additions in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring gable brick chimneys and a stone slated roof. The south elevation is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway is framed by a timber doorcase and a shallow timber bracketed canopy. It contains a 20th-century glazed door with a rectangular overlight above, and curved glazing bars. On either side of the doorway are stacked 4 x 4 pane glazing bar sash windows set in flush stone frames. Above the doorway is a window with 4 x 3 panes within a stone frame. The rear range of the house has been remodelled and raised.

To the south of the house is an attached boundary wall made of coursed sandstone with an ashlar flat coping that connects the house to the entrance gatepiers. The wall decreases in height from 2.5 meters to 1.5 meters through curved drops, which are topped with curved flat copings. In the central part of the wall, there is a quoined garden doorway. The gatepiers are square in shape, made of stone, and topped with shallow pyramidal caps.
