Description

Cheviot View is an earlier 19th-century house that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is an irregular two-storey, three-bay, single-pile structure built of sandstone rubble, featuring droved ashlar dressings on the north elevation, which also includes a later line-rendered addition. The south elevation is finished with harl-pointed or harled sandstone, also with ashlar dressings, and has flush quoins.

On the north elevation, which faces The Green and South Street, the windows are grouped in a 2-1 arrangement, with a lower bay on the right. There is a window at both the ground and first floor of the central bay, and a window at the ground floor of the left bay. To the left, there is a later full-height half-piended addition that includes a porch recess to the main house, with a window above at the first floor.

The south elevation is not fully visible as of 1995, but it is noted to have a window in each bay at the first floor. The house features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof, scroll skewputts, and brick wallhead stacks with octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The boundary wall and gatepier consist of whinstone and sandstone rubble with rounded coping. There is a square-plan gatepier to the west of the house, which has a boarded door, a key pattern frieze, a cornice, and curvilinear pyramidal coping.
