Description

The L-shaped range of outbuildings located to the west of Hollins House dates from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century and remodelling in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with stone slated and concrete tiled roofs. The western part of the range underwent substantial remodelling between 1975 and 1986.

The eastern range is stepped and consists of three bays, featuring a single-storey south elevation with an overloft at the east end. A substantial quoined doorway with a massive lintel and a segmental arched soffit is located at the east end. The western part has two plain doorways and a single taking-in door above. Both the north elevation and the east gable contain single-light 17th-century windows with moulded surrounds, while the gable also features a blocked quoined surround.

The western range, originally comprising five bays and a single cruck truss, now includes two additional trusses associated with the door and window surrounds on the east, west, and north walls. At the south end, there is an added single bay with an arched ground-floor opening and a stone staircase leading to a first-floor doorway. The outbuildings are listed for their group value.
