Description

The Methodist Junior School is a building dating from 1853, with later additions in 1887 and 1929. It is constructed from coursed, squared gritstone with gritstone dressings, and features a roof that is partly covered with stone slate and partly with tiles. The school has a two-storey section to the north and single-storey additions to the south.

On the west elevation, there is a semi-circular headed window that has a projecting keystone, imposts, and sill, along with a glazing bar sash. To the south, there is a drip-moulded doorcase with a rectangular fanlight above double doors, which have cusped tracery in the top panels. Above the door, there is a datestone from 1887. The south wing, also from 1887, contains three similar windows and a panelled door. The 1929 addition to the south features five windows and a modern door. The building is included for its group value.
