Description
Ivy Cottage is a cottage built in the early 17th century, with an extension added to the east in the 18th century. The structure is timber framed with painted brick nogging, featuring painted brick at the east end and coursed squared gritstone at the west end. It has a plain tile roof with brick gable and ridge stacks. The cottage is a single storey with attics.
On the south elevation, the west half displays exposed box framing, which includes a middle rail and two diagonal braces in the upper panels. There is a 20th-century gabled porch. To the left of the porch, there are two small pane casement windows, with two 20th-century gabled dormers above. To the right of the porch, there is a 2-light casement window on the first floor, situated above a dentil cornice.
Inside, the cottage features crudely cut exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace, and a winder stair, arranged in a three-room plan.
