Description
Rose Cottage and Shamrock Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages, likely dating from the early 17th century. The building is timber framed with painted brick nogging and features a plain tile roof, along with brick ridge, lateral, and external gable stacks. It stands two storeys high, with box framing visible on all sides, diagonal braces in some of the upper panels, and a middle rail.
The east elevation has five bays of windows, including a 20th-century gabled porch. To the left of the porch, there is a three-light casement window and a two-light oriel window. Above these are two Yorkshire sash windows and two 20th-century gabled dormers. To the right of the porch, there is a Yorkshire sash window with a casement above, a staircase window, and a three-light window with a Yorkshire sash above.
The west elevation displays eleven bays of completely exposed framing, featuring a mix of early 19th-century and 20th-century casements. The interior of Rose Cottage includes a lobby entrance plan, an inglenook fireplace, and exposed beams. The interior of Shamrock Cottage has not been inspected.
