Description

Little London Farmhouse is a building that was originally a threshing barn, dating from the early 17th century, with a 19th-century addition and further alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features square panel timber framing with corner braces and queen post trusses, set on a stone plinth and filled with brick nogging. There is also a 19th-century brick extension to the east. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with concrete tiles, supported by the original trusses, and has three brick ridge stacks.

The farmhouse consists of an eight-bay timber frame building with a single bay addition to the east. The timber-framed section has four bays to the west, followed by a wide bay without framing, and then another three timber-framed bays, indicating it may have been a threshing barn or two cottages. The north elevation features a horizontal sliding sash window in each of the two westernmost bays, both positioned to the west side of the panels. To the east, there is a small 20th-century window, and in the wider bay, which has been filled with later brick, there is a segment-headed 2-light glazing bar casement. Further east, there are two small 19th-century windows in the timber-framed part and a blank wall in the 19th-century extension. Above, there are three horizontal sliding sashes, each set to the side of the panel it occupies.

The south elevation displays a similar arrangement of horizontal sliding sashes and casement windows. The doorcase is located to the east of the southern elevation and features a plain 19th-century door. The 19th-century extension includes 3-light casement windows. Inside, the farmhouse is quite simple, with a winder staircase and plank doors.
