Description
Abbey House Manor House is a pair of cottages that incorporate remains of the abbey, possibly the kitchen, dating back to the medieval period and altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble gritstone and large blocks of coursed squared gritstone, with some red brick elements. It features a plain tile roof with two brick ridge stacks and a brick lateral stack. The structure is two storeys high.
At the southeast corner, there are remains of a massive external stack that includes four chamfered stringcourses. The south elevation has a gabled bay on the left side, which contains a 19th-century two-light casement window on the first floor. To the right, there is a doorway with a stone lintel and a 20th-century door. Further to the right, a 20th-century window is positioned next to a 19th-century casement window above it, located in a gabled half dormer.
On the east elevation, the long side of the medieval stack is visible, with a 19th-century two-light casement window under a segmental arch to the right. Above this, there is a similar two-light window under a flat arch.
