Description

The Cottage at Draycott House is a stable block and coach house, now functioning as a house, dating from the late 18th century and converted around 1950. It is constructed of red brick with stone and gauged brick dressings, featuring a stone plinth, a continuous stone band at impost level, and a moulded stone cornice. The roof is hipped with plain tiles, topped by a brick ridge stack and an octagonal cupola that has a weatherboarded finish and an ogival roof at the center.

The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with the central bay slightly advanced and pedimented. The west elevation features a central full-height, semi-circular headed archway with a moulded stone arch and plain brick jambs, which is filled in by a 20th-century glazed screen topped with a large fanlight. On either side of this archway are two full-height, blind semi-circular headed recesses with gauged brick arches. The recesses closest to the central bay contain 2-light segment-headed casements, while the outer recesses have canted bay windows. Above the central pediment is a bull's eye window surrounded by a stone frame with four keyblocks.

The rear elevation mirrors the front, with a similar pedimented central bay featuring a rusticated semi-circular arch below and a bull's eye window above. The building is included in the register for its group value only.
