Description

The farmbuilding at Manor Farm, located in the parish of Hopwell, dates from the early 19th century and has undergone minor later alterations. It is constructed of whitewashed brick on a brick plinth, topped with plain tile roofs and features a single brick ridge stack. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a two-storey north range and a single-storey cowshed and threshing barn attached at right angles to the east.

The north range includes the former farmhouse at the east end, which has a central doorcase with a segmental arch, flanked by 4-light segment-headed casement windows. Above these are two similar flat-headed windows. To the east, there is a single bay featuring a 20th-century sliding door over the original segment-headed doorcase, along with a fixed pane window above. Attached to the west of the farmhouse are four additional bays of farmbuildings, which include 3-light segment-headed fixed pane windows on either side of a segment-headed door to the east, and two late 19th-century windows to the west with a similar door beyond. Above these, there are two fixed pane windows situated below the eaves.

The eastern range consists of a cowshed to the north, which has a flat-headed door and a segment-headed window, and a threshing barn to the south, characterized by a full-height opening flanked by buttresses at the northern end. The remaining three bays of the barn feature three rows of breathers and a central buttress. Inside the barn, there are three king post trusses.
