Description

61 and 63 Church Street are two houses that have been converted into one house and two flats. They were built in the late 18th century and early 19th century, with some 20th-century additions and alterations. The buildings are made of red brick and have plain tile roofs, featuring a brick gable stack on the west side and two ridge stacks, along with dentilled eaves bands. The roof of No 63 also includes 20th-century roof lights.

The structure is two storeys high, with garrets in No 63, and has an L-shaped plan. No 61 has a single bay and is positioned at right angles to No 63, which has three bays. No 61 features a three-light segment-headed window with leaded casements on the south side and a plain doorcase with a moulded cornice on the north side, which includes an original panelled door beneath a divided overlight. Above this, there is a similar window to the one below. The adjoining gable wall of No 63 to the north has similar windows on the ground and first floors, with a 20th-century garret window above.

On the south elevation of No 63, there is a three-light glazing bar casement window below a segment head to the west and a 20th-century door to the east. Above, there is a similar window to the west and a single light window above the door. The west gable has a 20th-century lean-to on the ground floor. This listing is included for its group value only.
