Description
33 The Settlement is a mid-18th century farmhouse with some minor later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick, featuring brick and painted stone dressings, and has full height pilaster strips at each corner. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with slate, and has brick copings on moulded stone kneelers at the south gable, along with brick gable stacks and a sawtooth eaves band. The building has two storeys plus garrets and is arranged in three bays.
The central entrance features a segment-headed doorcase with a raised stone keyblock, which holds a 20th-century panelled door with a divided overlight. Above the door, there is a slate plaque inscribed with 'Joseph and Mary Borsly MDCCLII. Bless our going out O God, when we come in also. Bless us Amen'. On either side of the doorcase, there are 20th-century three-light casements beneath original segment brick heads with stone keyblocks. The upper floor has three similar windows. Inside, there is a wavy splat baluster staircase, although only the garret storey of the staircase is original.
