Description

The estate office, along with its attached walls and outbuildings, consists of a pair of houses that date from the early 18th century and mid 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof, with stone-coped gables and moulded kneelers. It has a brick ridge stack and gable stacks and is two storeys high, with a single-storey lean-to at the rear under a continuous roof. The north elevation has four bays, arranged as two plus two, with first and second floor brick bands.

The west half includes a doorway with a Tudor-arched lintel and a panelled door, alongside a 4-light wooden casement window with a transom to the right and a similar 3-light window to the left. The east half features a doorway with a segmental head and a panelled door, with a 3-light window to the right and a 2-light window to the left. A string course rises as a hood mould over the doors and windows. Above the right-hand door is a sunk panel with a raised brick surround and an arched top that encloses a relief of the Vernon coat of arms. The first floor has one 2-light window.

The irregular rear elevation showcases a tall 3-light early 19th-century Gothic window with intersecting tracery and diamond lights, featuring coloured glass in the tracery and margin lights. To the left is a single-storey lean-to under a continuous roof. Attached to the south is a range of single-storey outbuildings, surrounding a large courtyard. The south side of the courtyard is enclosed by a brick wall that includes two sets of gate piers and a small gabled coach house in the centre.
