Description
Old Farmhouse at Lodge Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into outbuildings. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and features a combination of brick and timber framing. The remains of a thatched roof are now covered with corrugated iron, and there is a brick coped gable with plain kneelers. The building has two brick gable stacks and remnants of a brick ridge stack. It is a single storey plus attics structure that originally had a three-room plan, which was extended to four rooms to the east in the 18th century.
The south elevation consists of four bays. On the ground floor, there is a three-light casement window to the left, followed by a doorway, a small rectangular window, a two-light window, another doorway, and a three-light window. Above, in the 17th-century part, there are three two-light eyebrow dormer windows, with the wall plate exposed beneath them.
Inside, there is one cruck truss featuring a tie beam and arched braces, along with a stud partition. There is also an inglenook with a moulded bressumer located at the junction of the 17th and 18th-century sections.
