Description
No. 72 on Church Street is a building dating from around 1800, featuring a facade that belongs to an earlier house. It is constructed of red brick, and the roof is not visible. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and chimneys topped with brick cornices, one of which has four shafts connected at the cornice level. The structure stands three storeys high and includes three windows with boxed frames, glazing bars, plain keyblocks, and flat brick arches. The entrance is a recessed door with a modest weather hood.
No. 72, along with Nos. 38 and 40, Pegg's Almshouses, Owlfield's Almshouses, The Mansion, the Summerhouse, and the cobbled pavements, forms a group with the parish Church of St Oswald and the churchyard gate piers, gates, and walls.
