Description
No. 53 St Martin's is a building with origins in the 17th century and a front elevation from the mid-18th century. It has two storeys and attics, constructed from painted stone and topped with an old slate roof. The building features one dormer and five windows, all with plain stone surrounds and triple keystones. The windows are hung sashes without glazing bars, with 19th-century glazing. The central door is similarly styled, featuring a shorter keystone and consists of six fielded panels beneath a four-light rectangular fanlight, accessed by two steps. This property is part of a group that includes Nos. 39 to 43, the garden wall to No. 43, No. 44, the wall to No. 44, Nos. 45 to 70, and the garden wall to Nos. 68 and 69, along with the Burghley Almshouses.
