Description

The Gables is a building from 1882 located at 54 St Martin's on the west side. It is three storeys tall and constructed in ashlar with a stone slate roof. The front features a full-height bay with four lights that has no glazing bars and a finial at the top. To the right, there is a three-light window positioned above two two-light windows that project slightly. The building has a plinth and a central door framed by a four-centred surround. The Gables is part of a group that includes Nos 39 to 43, the garden wall to No 43, the wall to No 43, No 44, the wall to No 44, and Nos 45 to 70, along with the garden wall to Nos 68 and 69, which includes the Burghley Almshouses.
