Description
20 St Martin's is a building dating from 1671, with a late 17th century core and an 18th century front elevation. It is two storeys high and has a plastered exterior. The roof is made of stone slate and features two stone stacks. An early 18th century wooden eaves cornice adds to its character. The building has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two windows on the left side of the ground floor being paired and featuring round arches with 19th century glazing. The remaining windows are in plain stone surrounds with triple keystones, arranged in a 2:3 pattern. The entrance boasts a four-panel door beneath a semi-circular traceried fanlight, set within a good porch supported by Tuscan columns and topped with an open pediment. Inside, the upper floor retains some fragmentary traces of 17th century polychrome floral decoration. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 18 to 38 and the Church of St Martin.
