Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century building consisting of two houses, Nos. 59 and 60, located on the west side of St Martin's. The building is constructed of coursed stone and has three storeys, with six double-hung sash windows. These windows have glazing bars and are set within plain reveals with small keystones, with bands continuing as cills. The ground floor features a door and two windows for each house. The doors are six-panelled and are topped with rectangular fanlights containing glazing bars, all within wooden cases featuring moulded pilasters and open pediments. A plinth runs along the base of the building. The roof is covered in stone slates with wide eaves. The building forms a group with Nos. 39 to 43, the garden wall to No. 43 and No. 44, Nos. 45 to 70, the garden wall to Nos. 68 and 69, and the Burghley Almshouses.
