Description
No. 52 St Martin's is a building with origins in the 17th century, but it was converted in the 19th century to a Gothic style, with the conversion dated to 1854. The exterior is cement rendered on stone and features two storeys and attics, along with paired stone chimney stacks and a plinth. The building has two gabled stone bays adorned with 19th-century stone ornaments and finials. A prominent feature is the six-light stone mullioned window, which includes Gothic glazing bars, and there are four lights on the top floor. The entrance consists of a 19th-century Gothic door set beneath a four-centred arch within a rectangular surround, topped by a small two-light mullioned window and a 19th-century moulded label. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 39 to 43, the garden wall to No. 43, No. 44, the wall to No. 44, Nos. 45 to 70, and the garden wall to Nos. 68 and 69, along with the Burghley Almshouses.
