Description
No. 51 St Martin's is a building dating from 1671, featuring an early 18th century front elevation and earlier 17th century work at the rear. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a roof made of stone slates and stone quoins. The building has five windows with stone arches, featuring 19th century fenestration with plate glass. There are two six-panel doors, each with a two-light rectangular fanlight above. The property also includes five hipped dormers, which have 19th century modillioned roofs. The back of the house suggests an earlier construction date. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 39 to 43, a garden wall to No 43, No 44, a wall to No 44, and Nos 49 to 70, along with a garden wall to Nos 68 and 69, which includes the Burghley Almshouses.
