Description

The building is a former coach house located to the northwest of Barlborough House. It dates from the late 18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof that is stone-coped and gabled, with moulded kneelers, a ball finial on the east side, and a brick gable stack on the west. It has a stepped, square clock and bell turret topped with a concave pyramid roof.

The coach house is two storeys high, with the north elevation displaying four irregular bays. There is an off-centre segmental arched cart entrance that has a recessed 20th-century timber and glazed infill. To the right of the entrance is a glazing bar sash window beneath a plain stone lintel, while to the left are two glazing bar sash windows under plain lintels. Above these, there is one similar window and two blind windows.

Attached to the southwest is a lower L-shaped wing with a hipped slate roof. The north front features an off-centre blocked doorcase flanked by shuttered openings, with an upper window to the right and a dormer to the left. The west front has a brick lateral stack and a central plank doorway flanked by shuttered openings.

This building is included in the listing for its group value only.
