Description

The Old Rectory is a private house that was originally built as a rectory in the early 19th century. The building features a cement-rendered exterior with sandstone dressings and has a combination of hipped Welsh slate and gabled stone slate roofs. It includes a rendered gable stack, two brick lateral stacks, and two brick stacks located within the central valley. The design incorporates angle pilasters and a moulded eaves cornice.

This two-storey structure has a symmetrical five-bay north elevation, with five glazing bar sash windows on each floor, all framed in plain stone surrounds. The central ground floor window is distinguished by a bracketted triangular pediment. The roof is adorned with three dormers, each containing glazing bar sashes. The side elevation mirrors this design with two similar bays.

The garden front consists of three bays, featuring a central round-arched doorway with a moulded ashlar doorcase, complete with pilasters and a bracketted hood. The entrance includes a panelled door topped by a semi-circular fanlight, with a glazing bar sash window above it, all set in a plain ashlar surround. This front is flanked by full-height bows, each with broad windows consisting of three glazing bar sashes divided by square section flush stone mullions. The garden front also has three roof dormers with glazing bar sashes. On the west side, there is a pedimented doorcase, and a lower service wing extends to the west.
