Description
Church Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the mid-18th century, with 19th-century alterations and 20th-century modifications. It is constructed from coursed rubble gritstone and features quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, reconstructed end ridge stacks, and a Welsh slated roof. The building has an 'L' plan, with a former single-storey outbuilding at the east end now incorporated into the main dwelling, while the remaining three bays are two storeys high. The house has stacked 19th-century sash windows, set within the surrounds of former flush mullioned windows that have been enlarged. There is a former loft opening on the south wall that has been converted into a sash-framed window. The central doorway has a quoined surround and a massive lintel, featuring a six-panelled door with the upper two panels now fitted with glazed lights. The building underwent restoration in 1984 and 1985.
