Description
Old Farm is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the 17th and 18th centuries. The building is constructed of irregularly coursed rubble gritstone, featuring quoins, plain gables, and end ridge stacks, with a roof covered in stone slates and plain tiles. It has an 'L' shaped plan and irregular elevations.
The south elevation has two storeys and four bays, with a single storey addition at the eastern end. The upper floor includes remnants of recessed chamfered mullioned windows; the window at the west end has a 2-light 20th-century casement, while the eastern window is blocked. Between these two windows is a 2-light flush-mullioned window. On the ground floor, there is an altered 2-light flush mullioned window and two 20th-century casements, all featuring 20th-century leaded lights. There are two doorways with quoined surrounds that are chamfered and have four-centred arches above the lintel soffits, both fitted with 20th-century glazed doors. The west gable of the main range and the flanking range show remains of 2, 3, and 4-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows.
