Description
Number 15 and the attached boundary wall is a house built between 1838 and 1839 by PF Robinson for the 4th Duke of Newcastle. It was later altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of stucco and features a slate roof. It has two external coped side wall stacks and a blind round-arched window at the first floor level. The design includes a rusticated rear basement, a ground floor band, an eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. Most of the windows are original glazing bar sashes. The house is three storeys tall, plus a rear basement, and has a symmetrical front facing the park with two windows on each floor, arranged in diminishing courses. The windows above the basement are fitted with louvre shutters. At the rear, there is a central stair turret that rises two storeys and features a cornice and a single first floor window. Below this turret is a gabled porch with a glazed roof, a round-arched door, and a fanlight. On either side of the porch, there are two windows on each floor. The boundary wall, which is approximately 15 meters long, is made of stucco with stone coping. It features a square end pier on the left and a coped projection on the right, followed by a panelled door and another pier. This building is part of an early development scheme by the 4th Duke of Newcastle for the Park Estate.
