Description

Numbers 3 and 4 Park Terrace are a pair of houses built between 1827 and 1833, with later alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. They were likely designed by PF Robinson and constructed for the fourth Duke of Newcastle as part of an early development scheme for Castle Park. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a slate roof and coped gables. They feature four plain side wall stacks, a plinth, eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. The windows are glazing bar sashes with moulded surrounds, cornices to the ground floor, and bracketed sills above. The houses are two storeys plus a basement and garrets, and have a four-window range. A projecting double porch is centrally positioned, featuring a cornice and parapet, with two fielded six-panel doors flanked by pilasters. Each return to the porch has a round-arched window, and beyond the porch on each side are single windows. Above the ground floor, there are four smaller windows. Outside, flanking the porch, are cast-iron spearhead area railings and gates. The buildings form part of a row of six pairs connected by single-storey links, now used as garages.
