Description
NUMBER 7 AND ATTACHED BOUNDARY WALL is a house and attached boundary wall dating to approximately 1848-51, likely designed by TC Hine of Nottingham for the 4th Duke of Newcastle. It was restored in the late 20th century. The house is constructed of stucco with gabled and hipped slate roofs, featuring two gable and one rear wall stack coped in stucco. It incorporates a plinth, a first floor cornice, brackets to the eaves cornice, and pedimented gables. Most of the windows are original sash windows with glazing bars, with moulded surrounds to those facing the Park. The house is two storeys high with a four-window range to the front. It has an L-plan layout, with a slightly projecting central section to the ground floor featuring two windows, and single windows to either side. Above, there are four smaller windows. A projecting hipped wing extends to the rear. The left return has a doorway with a cornice supported by foliage brackets, flanked by a single window; above, there are two windows, one of which has been reglazed. The right return has a glazed door with a fanlight, flanked by a single window, and two windows above. An attached boundary wall, approximately 30 metres long and constructed of stucco with stone slab coping, runs alongside the property. At each end are pairs of chamfered square gate piers topped with wooden gates and an overthrow to the left. Between the piers are two six-panel doors, the right one round-arched under a gable.
