Description
55 Castle Gate is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, featuring brick dressings and a plain tile roof topped with a tall brick ridge stack. It has a brick plinth and bands at the first and second floors. The structure is two storeys high with attics and has a single window range. Each floor includes a segment-arched tripartite glazing bar sash window with a brick head. Above, there is a large hipped dormer with a three-light casement window, which is from the late 19th century. To the right, there is a renewed wooden doorcase with a recessed door and an overlight.
