Description
Number 12 and the attached balustrade is an office building completed in 1872, designed by Evans & Jolley of Nottingham. The building features ashlar stonework with pink granite dressings on the ground floor and a slate mansard roof, which has two stylised gable stacks behind a modillion cornice and balustrade. It is designed in the Italian Renaissance style and consists of three storeys plus attics, with a five-window range, each window having a balcony, order, and pediment. Above these are five plain sash windows, and above again are three pedimented dormers. The ground floor includes three round-arched margin-glazed windows, which are flanked by pedimented doorcases supported by Corinthian columns on pedestals, with the right doorcase featuring panelled double doors. The exterior is complemented by a granite balustrade with pedestals.
