Description

A warehouse, dating to around 1855 and altered in the later 19th century, located in Nottingham. It was designed by TC Hine of Nottingham. The building is constructed of red brick with a rock-faced stone basement and ashlar dressings, topped with slate hipped and mansard roofs. The design includes a plinth, decorative sill bands to each floor, brackets to the eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. It is a corner building, three and four storeys high, with eleven windows on one side and four on the other. The windows are largely original plain sashes with round-moulded heads and keystones. Ground floor windows have a linked hood mould. The basement windows have cast-iron glazing bars. The main front, facing Broadway, has regular window placement and slightly projecting end bays. A recessed ashlar doorcase with shafts and entablature features a round-arched opening and panelled double doors with a fanlight. To the right is a segment-arched cart opening with a keystone and wrought-iron gate. The rebated rounded corner bay on the left has a window on each floor. The left return, facing St Mary's Gate, is three storeys high with four windows and regular fenestration.
