Description

The garden room at No. 22 Avenue Road is a freestanding structure built in 1958 by James Cubitt and Partners, with Fello Atkinson as the partner in charge and Brenda Walker as the job architect, for Mr and Mrs H Goddard. It features vertical cedar boarded walls and a flat roof with a painted timber fascia that matches the adjacent house. The building is single-storey and does not have any external drainpipes. It includes two glazed doors and clerestorey windows, and it has underfloor heating throughout. The garden room is considered an integral part of a group with the main house and reflects a sophisticated American influence in its design.
