Description

Nos. 4 and 6, Springfield Road are a semi-detached pair of houses dating from approximately 1900, built in the style of Norman Shaw. The ground floor is of roughcast red brick, while the upper levels are slate-roofed with gabled ends. The houses are three storeys high and have four bays. Each bay features a continuous second-floor window band below a series of gables; the upper levels are jettied and supported by shaped brackets. Four shallow, first-floor canted oriel windows project from the front, with a wooden balcony running along the front, also supported by large shaped brackets. Large ground floor bay windows incorporate round-arched porches with bulbous Ionic columns. A pulvinated frieze sits above the ground floor bays and porches. Part of the ground floor of No. 4 has been converted into a garage. The windows are casements with small panes.
