Description

Springfield House is a mid-19th century house, likely built around 1845-1850. The house is stuccoed and has a low-pitched slate roof with wide, bracketed eaves. It features long and short quoins and a plain cornice. The house has two storeys and three bays. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars. A central porch with fluted Corinthian columns and an entablature sits on the ground floor, and is flanked by large, splayed bay windows, likely added a little later, with dentilled cornices. The rear elevation has two similar bays arranged asymmetrically. A two-storey service wing is located to the right, slightly set back, and has a lower roofline. The group value of this building lies in its contribution to the streetscape.
