Description

A large, red brick house dating from 1859, likely designed by Henry Goddard of Leicester. The building is constructed in a Gothic style, notable for its purple brick bands and window arches, and stone window dressings. The roof is slate covered. The three-storey structure originally featured four window bays, with the right-hand section projecting forward and displaying two gables topped with bargeboards that form a pointed arch. A gabled porch with a pointed arch is also constructed of stone. Windows are predominantly one, two, and three-light designs, with pointed stone heads; some have cusped details, others feature trefoils in the spandrels. A continuous moulded stone sill runs along the first-floor windows. Smaller gables with windows are located on the left-hand side of the building, flanking a large brick chimney with a stone cap. Ground and first floor windows on the left-hand side are three-light designs with stone ogee heads under wide segmental arches. Decorative brick dentil eaves complete the exterior.
