Description

Nos 74 to 80 on New Walk are a range of three houses built around 1836. They are finished in stucco and stand three storeys tall, with one window on each floor. The second storeys feature wood trellis balconies with cast iron fronts, although the balconies on Nos 74 and 76 have been altered to include wood balusters. Each house has a small, attractive wooden doorcase with fluted pilaster strips, friezes decorated with a Greek key pattern, and small rectangular hoods. The fanlights above the doors are rectangular and have traceries. All windows are sashes with glazing bars. The eaves have paired brackets, and the houses have a slate roof with gabled ends and brick chimney stacks. Nos 72 to 80 form a group.
