Description

27 Iron Gate is a mid-18th century building constructed of red brick. It stands four storeys tall and features five near-flush sash windows, which are adorned with voluted keyblocks and channelled lintels, with the windows on the third storey being shaped. There is a plain band at the first floor level, and a well-crafted stone eaves cornice adds to its architectural appeal, topped by a shaped parapet. The ground storey has modern rustication that has been treated sympathetically, with a doorway located on the left-hand side and modern shop fronts. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 25 to 27, Nos 28-32, and Nos 33 and 34.
