Description
No 2 Amen Alley is a building dated 1734, constructed of red brick with a stone plinth. It stands three storeys high and features five restored sash windows set in broad frames, each with flat brick arches. The centre windows on the first and second storeys have key-blocks, with the first-storey window inscribed with the date. The building has a 19th-century doorway framed by a stone surround, which includes a semi-circular rusticated arched head and a moulded wood doorcase topped with a five-light horizontal fanlight. The roof is finished with slates, and there is a stone-coped parapet. No 2 is part of a group that includes Nos 9 to 11 (consecutive), Nos 15 to 17 (consecutive), and the Cathedral Church of All Saints on Iron Gate, along with No 1 Queen Street, two posts at the west end of College Place, and Nos 1 and 3 College Place.
